INXX and American musician, DJ, record producer, music executive - Steve Aoki's have come together on a limited-edition capsule.
I: Music definitely have an impact on people’s wardrobe. Do you think fashion and trend also have an impact on your music creation?
S: my music creation is informed by everything that I do so there is no doubt that the pizzaoki sweatpants I'm wearing right this second would have left some level of feeling when I'm in the studio later tonight. It's bright red to begin with and already makes me feel something just by staring at them.
I: You created your own brand “DimMak” and collaborated with lots of other fashion brands. Where do you usually get your design inspiration?
S: My inspirations are a continuum of my life as I live it. Wherever I am whatever I am doing will be part of the process of that season. I don't like to sit on ideas for too long. If I cant create immediately with something new that sparks my interest I move on.
I: People consider clothes as an important way to express personality, what “DimMak” is expressing or presenting.
S: We speak from an underground culture that has now become overground. We are not mainstream yet we are everywhere. We yield a voice that carries over 20 years of history in music and culture and if you get it you get it. If you don't you won't.
I: You and your sister have different tastes in fashion. Do you guys share your thoughts or opinion over fashion and new trends? Did two different styles ever have influence or impact on each other?
S: She is one of the most unique talented people I know. In many ways, she influenced me throughout my life and still does. We do collaborate on some projects some of which will become public. Keep on the lookout.
I: Besides awesome music, “Cake Face” was also a big part of your show. Do you remember the craziest thing your fans did to get you to throw cake at him/her?
S:The craziest thing is not that crazy but a 3 man totem pole and I got the person on the top. He was happy.
I:You have performed in many cities in China, is there a city you like the most? Why?
Will there be more show in China in the future?
S: I love Shanghai. Except for the pollution. I have toured through China 19 times in 4 years so yes I will definitely be coming back soon.
I: Could you tell us what’s your impression about INXX.
S:I love inxx so damn much. Forward thinking and always surprising me. It's very rare for me to be such a fan of one brand.
